Matthew Parker (Solicitor LLB (Hons) LLM)
I founded Forest Edge Legal Practice in 2009, the predecessor of Forest Edge Solicitors. I qualified as a Solicitor in 2006, having worked in the profession before that as well.
Having attended Bournemouth University to achieve my law degree I enjoyed living in the area and so set up home here. I have spent time working in Christchurch and Blandford Forum before setting up Forest Edge Legal Practice covering Ringwood, Verwood and the surrounding area.
I particularly enjoy all areas of litigation, both for individuals and companies, and securing for my clients the best outcome possible. It is important to me to find out what my clients are seeking at the outset and then seeing how that can be best achieved.
My areas of interest include litigation as well as employment work. This can involve spending time with clients in setting up procedures and documentation, as well as dealing with grievances and disciplinary issues as they may arise.
I find creating a long term relationship with my clients very beneficial in fostering the trust between us. This also allows my clients to be able to call on me when needed, and invariably now sooner rather than later. One of the best pieces of advice which I can give to someone is to seek professional help as soon as possible as the longer it goes on the less options there are, and the more it will probably cost.
Outside of work I try to spend as much time as possible with my young family, as well as playing hockey and supporting (for my sins) Portsmouth Football club. I am also a Director of the Verwood Arts and Leisure Amenities which runs the leisure and community services in Verwood, a governor at Emmanuel MIddle School in Verwood and am a long-standing member of Verwood Business, the Chamber of Trade.
Edward Holmes (Solicitor BA (Hons))
I joined Matthew in 2012 and I am a Director of Forest Edge Solicitors. I have been a Solicitor since 1994, previously working as Head of Civil and Commercial Litigation at a local Solicitors in Ringwood. I am a member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS). I have dealt with numerous cases many in the High Court involving professional negligence claims, disputes concerning wills, trust and inheritance act claims. This can be highly emotive and challenging but really rewarding when I secure the results my clients have wanted.
I have dealt with all varieties of land dispute from beneficiaries arguing over the rights in land under a will, to co-owners falling out with each other to neighbour boundary disputes.
Employment Law has been of real interest to me and I enjoy conducting Employment Tribunal hearings for both employers and employees.
I have undertaken various mediations to settle disputes for both individuals and businesses.
Over the years I have been involved in various family proceedings from disputes concerning where children should live and how regularly they should see their other parent. I have acted in relation to matrimonial financial proceedings and claims between co-habitees as to their financial interest in jointly owned property under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.
I take a professional cost effective approach in all matters and, when you instruct me, you will know where you stand from the start.
Cost estimates will be provided and both fixed fees and no win no fees are available in suitable cases.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and playing golf and tennis whenever I can.
